In September 2025, MIEACT proudly launched its DoNOHarm Communication Framework training, a major step forward in promoting safe, compassionate, and effective communication across workplaces and community organisations.
The launch was met with enthusiasm, drawing professionals from a range of sectors eager to explore how DoNOHarm supports conversations about mental ill health, trauma, identity, lived experience, and other complex topics The launch was celebrated by attendees, who highlighted the training’s practical value, engaging content, and its role in building confident, compassionate, and psychologically safe communication.
At the heart of the program is a set of guiding principles that promote respectful language, contextual awareness, purposeful dialogue, and healthy boundaries. Since its launch, DoNOHarm has gained momentum, with increasing demand from workplaces, community groups, and government agencies seeking to strengthen their communication practices.
The training also underscores the value of lived experience-informed education. MIEACT’s longstanding commitment to safe storytelling ensures that both storytellers and audiences are supported during discussions about mental health or personal experience. By embedding these practices, organisations create environments where people feel respected, heard, and empowered.
Following the success of the September launch at the National Museum, which featured inspiring speeches from MIEACT CEO Prue Slaughter, Director of Lived Experience and Innovation Riley Watson, and MIEACT Ambassador Christopher Rannard, MIEACT invites teams to book their DoNOHarm Communication training. Sessions are available both in person and online and can be tailored to an organisation’s unique context and communication challenges
