Episode One: Welcome to My Mind My Voice with Fahmida

Our first episode will introduce you to MIEACT, the organisation behind My Mind My Voice, our DoNOHarm Framework, which guides all that we do in the mental health space, and will introduce listeners to our wonderful Host, Roberta, and one of MIEACTs amazing Volunteer Educators, Fahmida. Fahmida, like all our Volunteer Educators, shares her story of mental health with people in the ACT in the hopes of decreasing stigma and increasing help-seeking so that we can work together to create a more mentally well community. For those of you who haven’t heard of MIEACT, it stands for Mental Illness Education ACT which is a mental health education and awareness organisation in the ACT. MIEACT is the primary mental health and wellbeing education provider in the ACT for workplaces, community groups and secondary schools across the Canberra region and surrounding area. Everything MIEACT does is guided by our DoNOHarm Framework which is a best practice approach to communication bout mental illness that minimises emotional distress for all involved. It comprises six principles which are context and purpose, recovery emphasis, safe talking, limits to helping, respectful and inclusive language and self-care, each of which Roberta and Fahmida will go through and discuss. Hope you enjoy and welcome to the podcast.
